Berlin has been attracting new faces, new voices, and new musicians for quite some time and we feel that it is time for us to begin showcasing and presenting up and coming new found talents. Gary Wiggins along with the cooperation and support of the The A-Trane mark the begining of a new project that features the new voices of the Berlin Scene. The first konzert of this series presents Katarina Holmberg who was born in Helsinki, Finland and is a Swedish speaking Finn. She was raised between Berlin, Brighton and Helsinki.Katarina's love affair with soul and jazz music started when she was 17 studying music on the south coast of England and carried on through her music studies at Southampton University where she graduated with a First-class honours degree. Whilst studying she was a soloist and assistant Musical Director for the University Gospel Choir, and soloist with the Jazz Orchestra Band SUJO, with whom she sang in France at the Vienne Jazz Festival.Katarina has recorded and performed live in the UK, Greece, Berlin, France, the Caribbean, Cyprus, Ireland and Finland. She has sung and performed as a backing vocalist for the UK's 'X-Factor' series and 'Britain’s Got Talent', Katarina has sung for the BBC, ITV, RTL, The Discovery Channel, 606 Jazz club London, Disney, Nokia, Pinewood Studios and more.Now living in Berlin she runs her own music studio where she writes and records her songs, writes music for short films, and teaches singing. We believe that Katarina's live appearance will set a high standard for those that follow.
