„Live On Tape“

Deutsch:
International Jazz Day – Let’s celebrate

Matti Klein Soul Trio:

Matti Klein Soul Trio:

International Jazz Day – Let’s celebrate30th April is Jazz Day – for International Jazz Day, Berlin pianist, composer, university lecturer and curator Matti Klein and the jazz club A-Trane invite you to the big soul-jazz show „Matti Klein Soul Trio and Friends“.
The memorial and activity day, proclaimed by UNESCO since 2011 and strongly supported by Herbie Hancock, celebrates jazz in all its aspects. At the same time, the Matti Klein Soul Trio’s current album “Soul Trio Live On Tape” celebrates its first birthday. Matti Klein takes this as an opportunity to celebrate this special day with several musician friends, top stars of the Berlin jazz and funk scene:Matti Klein Soul Trio:
“The soulful jazz mixture that keyboardist Matti Klein performs with Lars Zander on saxophone and and bass clarinet and drummer André Seidel, his partner from the “Mo’ Blow” days, has addictive potential. The three musicians create a sound that sounds like much more than a trio. Groove master Klein (who also works as musical director for Brazilian soul superstar Ed Motta) on the keys provides the perfect dose of bass. With his left hand he plays a Rhodes bass piano of his own making and produces a full, warm and round sound, that packs a punch. (…) With their passionate reminiscences of the soul-jazz era, the three musicians meet with an enthusiastic response from the audience. This is mainly due to the the groove that oozes out of every pore in the music and is extremely infectious.” Kerstin RickertArne Jansen:
The two-time ECHO Jazz winner is considered an accomplished all-rounder. In addition to his own trio, the guitarist works continuously with the Nils Wülker Group, but also Matthias Schweighöfer and Katja Riemann. His sound, influenced by Pat Metheny, Kurt Rosenwinkel and Mick Goodrick, among others, is something you don’t want to miss at any jazz party!
Pat Appleton:
Pat Appleton became internationally known as the voice of De-Phazz with “The Mambo Craze” and still works with the band as a singer and composer. The singer, who has been described by 3Sat as one of the most important voices of German contemporary jazz, combines jazz and soul in a tasteful way and absolutely guarantees to wiggle along!
Christoph Titz:
Berlin-based trumpeter Christoph Titz has already worked with Marla Glen, Reinhard Mey or Sarah Connor. Here you can see – Titz doesn’t shy away from any genre boundaries and clichés, but participates in the middle of the pulsating Berlin jazz world.
Robby Geerken:
The original Berliner Robby Geerken escaped early – and eventually quickly expanded – the sounds of Berlin. The percussionist and lecturer in Cuban folklore and popular music was influenced early on by the lessons and later joint projects of and with Jose Luis “Changuito” Quintana Fuerte.Matti Klein Soul Trio:
