SPECIAL GUEST: BILL PETRYIn May 2025, two of Europe’s most outstanding jazz guitarists, Martin Taylor and Giovanni Weiss, will embark on a tour through Germany. This special musical collaboration brings together Taylor’s decades of fingerstyle expertise and Weiss’s deep-rooted Sinti swing tradition. Both musicians, inspired by Django Reinhardt, have developed their own unique styles over the years, blending emotion and virtuosity.

Martin Taylor, world-renowned for his unparalleled fingerstyle technique and his solo career, will join forces in this project with Giovanni Weiss, who has made a name for himself in the jazz world not only through his band Django Deluxe and his two Echo Jazz awards but also through his collaborations with international stars like Till Brönner and the NDR Big Band. What makes this collaboration truly special is the combination of Taylor’s masterful, intricate playing and Weiss’s distinctive Sinti swing, deeply rooted in his family’s traditions.

On their tour through Germany in May 2025, the two musicians will present a unique blend of traditional jazz pieces inspired by Django Reinhardt, along with modern interpretations and original compositions. Each concert will be an emotional journey, allowing the audience to feel the depth of the musical souls of Taylor and Weiss. Together, they manage to distill the music down to its essence, carrying it directly from the musician’s soul into the hearts of the listeners.

The special guest will be the very well renowned Jazz trumpet player in the music scene Bill Petry.

Born and raised in West Berlin as the son of an artist, Bill Petry came into contact with his parents‘ record collection at an early age. Greats such as Louis Armstrong, Ella Fitzgerald, as well as the Beatles and Joni Mitchell, were part of his youthful life and shaped his aesthetic sensibilities. His warm sound and lyrical, honest playing are an impressively confident response to the global hustle and bustle of today. As a trumpeter, Bill Petry is already one of the most distinctive representatives of his generation.

„Close Your Eyes“ – this is the title that trumpeter Bill Petry gave to his debut album, which was nominated for the German Record Critics‘ Award and received critical acclaim. This album was released on May 31, 2024.
With „Close Your Eyes,“ Bill Petry has created a mature and very personal album.
